BDMG is committed to generating a positive socioeconomic impact and stimulating the development with sustainability. That is why its operation is linked with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In March 2020, BDMG became a signatory of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.

In 2022, 41% of total disbursements (BRL 993.3 million) went to initiatives connected to at least one of the SDGs, highlighting the promotion of clean energy (SDG 7), decent work (SDG 8) and sustainable communities (SDG 11).

BDMG has finished the development of a CO₂ Calculator in concert with IDB to evaluate emissions, removals, and emission reductions from transactions financed by the Bank. The indicators obtained help with the making of strategic decisions, such as line and resource planning aimed at climate.
